KILIMANJARO

At the roof top of the African continent lies the summit of Kilimanjaro. Standing at 19,340 ft., it ranks fourth among the "Seven Summits." Kilimanjaro is an accessible, non-technical peak that presents an excellent experience for those new to altitude and the alpine environment. We encourage our members to consider spending an additional 2-5 days after their Kilimanjaro trek to enjoy one of our safaris customized and priced exclusively for S2 members.

LEMOSHO

$6,025 / 10 Days / Annually in June and December

The Lemosho Route is a remote, unspoiled and very beautiful route to the “Roof of Africa.” Although growing in popularity, the route receives substantially less trekker volume, making it an attractive option for members seeking a more personal and scenic route to Kilimanjaro’s summit. The Lemosho Route features a dense rainforest around the Lemosho Glades that is rich in wildlife. Summit day highlights beautiful views of the crater landscape and surrounding glaciers from Stella Point. The sunrises from the route are consistently glorious – members can enjoy the solitude and wonder of the early sun slowly escaping the horizon as they approach the summit from Stella Point.

NORTHERN CIRCUIT

$6,075 / 10 Days / Annually in June and December

The Northern Circuit Route is currently one of the least travelled routes on Kilimanjaro. Receiving substantially less trekker pressure, the route nearly circumvents the entire mountain and takes our teams to the most remote and pristine areas of Kilimanjaro National Park. Although the longest of the routes described here, this is an attractive option for members seeking an isolated and scenic route far from the large teams experienced in other areas of Kilimanjaro. Initially following the same trail as the Lemosho Route, the Northern Circuit also features a dense rainforest around the Lemosho Glades where wildlife viewing can be enjoyed. The traverse across the northern slope is long and peaceful, providing exceptional views over the savannah as it ascends toward Kilimanjaro’s eastern rim. Summit day highlights beautiful views of the crater landscape and surrounding glaciers as the trail circumvents a section of Kilimanjaro’s eastern ridge. As you approach the summit from Stella Point, enjoy the warmth of the sun rising above the blanket of clouds below, and enjoy your place at the highest point in Africa!

RONGAI

$5,890 / 9 Days / Annually in June and December

The Rongai Route is an attractive option for members seeking a scenic and relatively shorter route to Kilimanjaro’s summit. Ascending from the north-eastern slope of the mountain, our route takes us along the border between Tanzania and Kenya. The landscape is wide and magnificent with views stretching far across the region.  The Rongai Route features a dense rainforest with abundant wildlife – Colobus monkeys and rare bird species can typically be observed on the first day on the route. The ascent up the northern slope is long and peaceful, leading us to the foot of Mawenzi. This is a particularly beautiful point along the route where we have an opportunity to further explore the landscape and climb the ridge lines above us. Summit day highlights a steep climb to the rim where we have our first views of the crater landscape and surrounding glaciers. We continue with a traverse that  circumvents a section of Kilimanjaro’s eastern ridge. Continuing to the summit from Stella Point, we welcome a beautiful sun rise and a sense of pride that we have reached the highest point on the continent!

S2Mountaineering staff are prepared to tailor a trip that’s scaled to your schedule and level of performance. Additional attractive route options include Machame, Umbwe, Mweka, Marangu and others.
